Rain Barrel Installations

Rain barrels come in many shapes, sizes and colors.  This page is intended to document, with photos, all the different types that are in use in Lancaster.  We encourage you to get creative, make your own, paint your own, or to learn more about how you can acquire a barrel through LIVE Green click here.

If you would like to learn how to make your own rain barrel we recommend two, do-it-yourself video’s; one is available through Penn State University and the other through HGTV.

Below are images of the gray 60 gallon re-purposed food grade barrel that is available through the LIVE Green workshops.  Local artists have begun painting them to increase character.

Rain barrels can be connected to downspouts in many different ways.
